Description / Mora Risberg Carbon - Heavy Duty

The Mora Risberg Heavy Duty Carbon is the toughest knife in the Risberg range, designed for outdoor users who need a stronger blade for demanding tasks. It is well suited to camping, bushcraft, hunting and general outdoor work where extra strength and durability are required while still keeping a practical size for everyday carry.

The 91 mm blade is made from German C100S carbon steel produced by C.D. Wälzholz. At 3.2 mm thick, the blade is significantly stronger than the standard Risberg models and is built to handle tougher tasks such as carving hardwood, preparing kindling and other demanding camp work. Carbon steel allows the blade to take a very sharp edge and is easy to resharpen when needed.

The blade uses a traditional Scandi grind which provides excellent control when carving wood and performing detailed tasks. A slightly wider grind angle increases durability, making the knife better suited to heavier outdoor work while still maintaining good cutting performance.

The ergonomic handle is made from durable polypropylene which performs well in wet, dirty or cold conditions. Its shape provides a secure grip and includes a finger guard for added safety during use. A lanyard hole at the end of the handle allows the knife to be attached to cord or paracord if required.

The supplied polymer sheath features a secure click lock system that keeps the knife firmly in place during transport. It can be worn on either the right or left side and can also attach directly to the button on outdoor trousers for convenient carry while moving around camp.

Made in Mora, Sweden, the Risberg Heavy Duty continues Morakniv’s tradition of producing practical knives built for real outdoor use.

FAQ

How does the Mora Risberg Heavy Duty Carbon compare to the Mora Companion Heavy Duty (12210)

The Mora Risberg Heavy Duty Carbon and Mora Companion Heavy Duty are both strong outdoor knives designed for demanding tasks, and they share several core characteristics including carbon steel blades and a thick Scandi ground edge.

Feature Mora Risberg Heavy Duty Carbon Mora Companion Heavy Duty (12210)
Blade length 91 mm approx. 104 mm
Blade thickness 3.2 mm 3.2 mm
Steel C100S carbon steel Carbon steel
Hardness ~57.5 HRC ~57.5 to 60 HRC
Grind Scandi grind Scandi grind
Handle Polypropylene Rubberised TPE grip

The Companion Heavy Duty (12210) has a longer blade at around 104 mm, giving it a bit more reach for general outdoor tasks such as processing wood or preparing larger materials.

The Risberg Heavy Duty uses the same blade thickness at 3.2 mm but with a shorter 91 mm blade, making it slightly more compact and easier to control during carving and more detailed outdoor work.

Handle construction is another difference. The Companion Heavy Duty has a larger rubberised grip designed for maximum comfort and grip during extended use, while the Risberg Heavy Duty uses a durable polymer handle which keeps the knife slightly lighter and simpler in design.

Both knives use a traditional Scandinavian grind and carbon steel, making them excellent for wood carving, bushcraft tasks and easy field sharpening.

Which one should I choose

Choose the Risberg Heavy Duty Carbon if you want a tougher Risberg model that stays compact and easy to carry while still handling heavier outdoor tasks.

Choose the Companion Heavy Duty (12210) if you prefer a slightly longer blade with a larger rubberised handle designed for extended bushcraft and wood processing work.
